Kaua’i Chamber of Commerce UPDATE

January 1, 2002

by: Sam Pratt

I hope your glass remains half full! The past month has been a whirlwind so much information has been passed to establish our new “normalcy”; some of it good, some of it not as good. Rather than continue to focus on the popular topics of the day, for which there are far better authors anyway, I wanted to revisit a subject I pondered in July’s newsletter: The Brain Gain. …

…I also had the chance to visit with some old friends in Hanalei who are in the web and graphic design business. New Chamber member Wasabi Design is the creator of “The Kauaian” website (www.kauaistyle.com). Steve, Winston, and Justin have all spent time living on the mainland and decided Kaua’i is home. Their new business establishes a community website on the Internet to benefit Kaua’i through an exchange of information and ideas resulting in community building, networking, education, and ultimately job creation. Most refreshing to me is the fact that they all return with a common goal as expressed in their mission: To enrich lives and bring the people of Kaua’i closer together. If you check out their website, you’ll agree their idea is exciting and the possibilities endless. Watch for exciting new projects from this trio that will underscore the importance of “community” in business on Kaua’i.

In closing, I welcome my fellow Gen X’ers back to the good life on Kaua’i.

Sam
