Aloha!<>BR><>BR>
As I talk with Kauaians about the upcoming County elections, I keep hearing three criticisms of politics on
Kaua`i:<>BR><>BR>
1. It's dirty; clean it up!
2. It's unprincipled; ground it in our values!
3. It's unrepresentative; vote with (not for) Kauaians!<>BR><>BR>
I also hear, in response to such criticisms:
"Yup, that's politics as usual."
Mebbe we can use this space to talk about creating a whole new kind of politics for our island...wot we might call
"Politics Unusual." <>BR><>BR>
What would this look like?
And how might we "rally the troops" to forge a more vibrant and satisfying political life for Kauaians?<>BR><>BR>
Let's see who wants to join this
discussion, and then I might start adding "fresh ideas" from other communities that have successfully turned a
corner and taken back their power in this way.
