Choosing the Best Kauai Resort
When planning your Kauai vacation, one of the toughest decisions you’ll make will be which side of the island to stay on. Kauai is broken up into 4 areas: North Shore, East Side, South Shore and West Side. Each area offers its own unique flavor and a favorite location can be hard to choose. One thing that could help you make your decision would be choosing a Kauai resort that’s best suited to your vacation needs. With that said, here is a list of my favorite resorts on island.
Princeville Resort (North Shore) - Offers several vacation home rentals and oceanbluff condos as well as 2 hotels and a large time share resort. Has great golf and access to the North Shores abundant white sand beaches and outdoor activities including the Hanakapiai trail.
Hanalei Bay Resort (North Shore) - Has one of the most beautiful sunset views in Hawaii. Sitting on a bluff overlooking Hanalei Bay, most condos have views of Hanalei’s mountains and Bali Hai.
Kauai Beach Resort (East Side) - This oceanfront resort is surrounded by lagoons and has a lush tropical setting. It is conveniently located next to the the Lihue airport as well as shopping, great golf and other activities.
Waipouli Beach Resort (East Side) - I stayed here on my birthday a couple of years ago, and the rooms are top notch as should be expected from a brand new resort. Located in Kapaa, you have access to shopping and restaurants as well as some great hiking and beaches.
Hyatt Resort (South Side) - The great thing about the south side is that its always sunny. So if you’re coming during the winter, this is a great choice. Located near some very nice beaches in Poipu, with great golf and the best pool for kids on the island.
Regardless of where you stay, Kauai has abundant outdoor activities for everybody in your family. Have a great time and don’t forget to respect the locals.

I appreciate this information. Do you have any updates on when the Princeville Hotel will open as a St. Regis? I think this will be big for Princeville and Kauai. Hanalei Bay Resort and Puu Poa are going to benefit from beging able to have such close access.
